Easter is on Sunday. I remember as a little girl my mother would always take my two sisters and I to buy an Easter dress. It was always very special. We would not only get a new dress but socks and shoes as well. Then, on Easter Sunday after church pictures were always made of our family outside in front of the house.
Easter is a time of happy memories for me. Now that I am grown and have a family of my own Easter is still a special time. When our children were little we would dye eggs and the Easter bunny would hide them for our children to find using their Easter baskets.
As a designer I think setting a beautiful table for Easter is a special thing. If you look in the stores you will find all types of place settings, glassware, bunnies, napkins, candles and the list goes on. All beckoning you to purchase them for your Easter table. Today let’s take a look at 5 ideas you can incorporate into your Easter table this year.
Pretty In Pink
You can never go wrong at Easter with pink as a primary or accent color on your table. You can easily mix it with white, green in many shades, blue or turquoise. I love flowers on a table any time of the year. When you entertain it is always nice to have flowers as a centerpiece. I suggest, however, that they be low centerpieces so that your guests can see over them during your party and talk with one another across the table. I also love to add votive candles around the flowers to give a warm ambiance. You can see in the above picture that there are different types of flowers being on this table; all are pretty in pink.
Consider A Rustic Look
If you are looking for something different this year, consider a rustic looking table. This does not necessarily mean masculine but incorporates rustic elements. Bringing in wood elements from outside such a forsythia branches or tulip magnolia or dogwood branches in clear vases would be gorgeous! Add fern leaves or rosemary and you have simple and sophisticated with a nod to the natural. Use gold silverware with cream dinnerware and your table will thank you.
Consider A Beautiful Outdoor Table
You may be fortunate enough to live in a place where it will be sunny and warm on Easter Sunday. If so, consider creating a beautiful outdoor table to host family and friends for brunch or dinner. Spring is such a beautiful time to entertain outdoors. It is no longer cold and wet (or snowing) but it is not terribly hot yet either. Hosting a party outdoors can be as simple as bringing several smaller tables outside if you do not have on large one. The use of runners going vertically on the table replace the need for a tablecloth or placemats. Using wire baskets and wooden chargers take their cue from the outdoors. It is a relaxed atmosphere where everyone can take off their shoes and run their toes through the grass.
Add Beauty With Silver
I love the use of silver when you are entertaining. Easter is the perfect time to bring out any silver pieces you may have and add them to your table. Silver adds beauty and elegance to any table. Mix your silver pieces with crystal and flowers to make a statement. A touch of green will ground your table. Many people have silver candlesticks, vases or silverware but don’t seem to use them very much. I like getting dressed up to go out on occasion. And just as I enjoy getting dressed up, I also enjoying having a dressy table every once in a while as well. What are you waiting for? Enjoy!
A Beautiful White Table
There is nothing that is more beautiful than an all white table set for a special occasion. White on white is crisp and brings simplicity in a very elegant way. The use of white place settings and white flowers elevate your table to the next level. A beautiful white table can be used both indoors or out. Either place it will be at home. Add white candles to give warmth to your setting and nothing else is needed.
I hope you have found inspiration and several ideas on how to make your Easter table beautiful this spring. Open your cabinets, see what you have. Look outside and see what is there. Be creative and have fun! You can do it.
Until next time,
