The Kids Are Gone, Time To Redesign

For many of us, we have raised our family and now the house has become quieter. Our children have gone off to college or are on their own. We are Empty Nesters. Most of us have been in the same home for years but have made few changes or improvements over the years to that home. Well, now is the perfect time – it is time to focus on the changes you would like to make. It is time to redesign your home to fit your new lifestyle. The design needs of empty nesters change once the family is gone. I encourage you to think about changes to your home that you have been dreaming about for years. Do you want to update your kitchen and add the marble counter tops you have always wanted? Have you always wanted a Wolf stove top or oven? What about pull-out drawers? Or maybe for years you have dreamed of having a luxury master suite with new furniture, bedding and a beautiful bathroom. Would you like a study where you can read? Whatever your design needs may be, now is the time for them to become a reality. Below are pictures that will hopefully stir your imagination and inspire you.

I love the above picture of the white kitchen with the beautiful large island. The marble counter top is stunning! The windows make the kitchen light and airy. The island provides a lot of storage space. The coffered ceiling is also gorgeous!

Notice the beautiful wood flooring and how it compliments the cabinet color. I also love that they chose to put glass doors on several cabinets. The backsplash is neutral but adds texture.

Kitchens are the center of many homes. When you invest in a kitchen remodel I encourage you to think about what the changes you want to make and what you would really like your new kitchen to look like when it is completed. There are so many choices! Do you want more storage, new appliances. Are you going to change the flooring or keep your current cabinets but have them refinished? Find pictures of kitchens that you like and use them when talking with a designer.

This master bedroom beckons you to come in and stay a while. I love the neutrals with a touch of blue. The sitting area is a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of coffee or sit and read on a rainy day.

This master bathroom is absolutely beautiful! Notice the shiplap. The marble counter top is stunning and I love the above-mount sinks. Sconces mounted on each side of the mirrors is a great idea. Notice the clean lines which speak of elegance and sophistication.

This master bath has storage space which is always nice. A freestanding tub adds luxury to any bathroom. I love the choice of tiles for this space. They add interest and texture.

So, here are just several examples of beautiful spaces. I hope you have found inspiration and a desire to get started on your next design project. A remodel of any space can be overwhelming but with the right help it can be exactly what you have always dreamed of.

Until next time, happy decorating!
