Decorating Your Front Porch

I am a true Southern girl. I was born and raised in the South. When I think of the South, one of the first things that comes to mind is front porches. I love a front porch on a house! In fact, our current house has a double front porch, how great is that! So, if you are fortunate enough to have a front porch or even a back porch let’s discuss some wonderful ways to make them beautiful.

With fall approaching you will find pansies and other beautiful annuals to add to pots for a splash of color. Mums are also a wonderful perennial that you will find in an array of colors and it will rebloom year after year. To hold all your pretty flowers you can find an assortment of pots in all shapes, sizes and colors at your local nursery. Find something fun that will show a bit of your personality.

Add Color with Rugs Outdoor rugs are extremely popular right now. They come in all colors, patterns and sizes. You might want to consider finding a colorful outdoor rug for your porch. The pattern and texture will add interest and depth to the area. Now is a great time to find outdoor rugs on sale.

Now that you have your pots filled with beautiful flowers and a rug on the floor, it is now time to think about what type of furniture would look best in your space. When thinking about furniture for an outdoor space you want something that will be durable. Outdoor fabrics hold up best in the weather. Wicker and teak furniture are popular picks for outdoor seating. I love garden stools used as side tables. They are small but a great solution for using as a small side table. You may also want to consider a bar cart for holding items for drinks with friends.

I hope this has inspired you to take advantage of your outdoor space. Summer is coming to a close and fall is approaching. It is a wonderful time to relax on your porch with a good book or enjoy the company of friends. Get outside and enjoy the weather!

Until next time, Beth
