Christmas At Callanwolde

For those of you living in the Atlanta area, many are familiar with Callanwolde. However, if you have recently moved to Atlanta or do not live in the area, you may not be familiar with this historic home.

Callanwolde is a beautiful 1920’s tudor mansion built by Charles Candler, the son of Asa Candler, the founder of the Coca-Cola Company. The mansion is 27,000 square feet and located in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Atlanta. The Estate was saved from demolition in 1971 by DeKalb County. Today it is on the National Register of Historic Places. You may tour the home throughout the year. It is now Atlanta’s home for visual, literary and performing arts.

Christmas at Callanwolde is held every year after Thanksgiving. With the talent of designers, the home is transformed into a magical place for the holidays. Designers are assigned a specific room and allowed to decorate it for the holidays using their vision.

I am very excited that I have been asked to decorate the Breakfast Room this year! I am thrilled to have this opportunity. I, along with the other designers, have begun preparation for this event.

Christmas at Callanwolde is their fundraiser for the year. All of the proceeds benefit the Fine Arts Center. If you have never attended Christmas at Callanwolde, I invite you to attend this year. This is an event for every member of the family. They offer Breakfast with Santa and Teddy Bear Tea for children. You will also find professional holiday displays as well as an artist market. All of the information for the event can be found at www.callanwolde.org.
